Wedding Music Guide for Celtic Harp

I can play the music listed here on Celtic harp for each part of the ceremony. If you have a particular piece of music written for the flute, or if you want something that is not possible on the Celtic harp, I can easily play it on the flute.

You can use this information to plan your music, or, if you'd like, I can choose the music for you.

Prelude - I usually like to choose this music, if possible.

* Elegant 17th-18th century music from Irish harp composers and the English Country dance tradition
* Hymns such as: Simple Gifts, Amazing Grace, Be Thou My Vision
* any of the classical music listed on this page that is not already being played elsewhere

Processionals for the Bridesmaids and Bride

* Bridal Chorus (Wagner) - the traditional bride's processional
* Sheep May Safely Graze (Bach)
* Trumpet Tune (Purcell)
* Trumpet Voluntary (Clarke)
* Canon in D (Pachelbel)
* Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (Bach)
* Give Me Your Hand - beautiful 300-year old Irish air (find an mp3 on this website: http://www.flowinglass.com/princess/wed.html)
* Elegant 17th-18th century music from Irish harp composers and the English Country dance tradition.

Music during the ceremony (optional)

There are two types of music that can happen during the ceremony:

1) Music played softly during candle-lighting and other quiet times. You can decide what I play, or I can choose it.

2) Special music - This is usually done if you have a special piece or song that you'd like to pause the ceremony to hear. Here is a partial list of songs I can sing with harp accompaniment:

* hymns: Simple Gifts, Amazing Grace, Be Thou My Vision
* modern wedding songs: I Will Be Here, You Raise Me Up, The Wedding Song
* Irish/Scottish songs: Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms, My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose

Recessional for bride and groom

* Wedding March (Mendelssohn) - the traditional one
* Ode to Joy (Beethoven) - less traditional, but very popular
* Irish: the upbeat "Carolan's Concerto" from 17th-century Ireland
* Or, for something different: an upbeat Irish tune played on the tin whistle.
